Basically the event was divided into 4 parts, an AM game Saturday followed by lunch, a PM game Saturday followed by dinner, a night game Saturday night, and an AM game Sunday. All of the scenarios were great except for the night game, which was way too orchestrated by admin and didn't leave much for the bulk of the players. Basically if you didn't have NVGs it was lame. I assumed they kept it so organized to keep kids from falling out of 3rd story windows in the dark.

I had heard a lot of stories about cars blowing up etc at other Lion Claws games so I had high expectations... unfortunately none of that kind of stuff happened. What did happen was a bunch of high quality players got together and played in a well run game all weekend. At a price tag of $150 for a Lion Claws first timer I am honestly not sure it was worth it as an annual event, but I really enjoyed playing in a real world style AO of this size.

Pros:

Awesome AO.
Great sportsmanship. I think this was enforced by the Lion Claw rule of not calling other players out. In fact, the only poor sportsmanship I saw was from an embedded ref (playing), and he quickly got straightened out.
No kids.
All events started and ended really close to on time.
Mid caps only.
Great CQC action.
John Lu was super nice.


Cons:

Weak raffle. Made me appreciate how much Big Boy and Airsoft Carolina contribute at our regular events. Kudos to those guys!
Night game was not much fun.
A bit expensive for what you got.

All in all I am glad for the experience, and would probably try another Lion Claws event, like maybe Irene next year. What was supposed to be a zombie vs survivor game turned out to be a bunch of regulars ganging up on new people who paid 25 dollars to wear a pie pan around their neck just to get shot at. And when it was the new peoples turn to shoot, no one called their hits or obeyed any of the rules. The only thing that was fun was the fact that someone brought a riot shield and I got the chance to raid the building where all of the survivors were crowded up in. Other than that I thought XK held one of the worst, unprofessional airsoft matches held in NC. What I love about these games, is you never just sit around...you are always running (if you arent running you probably are getting lit up lol), shooting, diving, or chuggin' water....I think 82 people showed up for this one, and I never heard anyone say they werent having fun. Worth every bit of $10.
