    Default ESC's? And M14 issue

So I keep seeing these Electronic Speed Controllers and I am trying to figure out what makes them different from a Mosfet. Could anyone help me with this? Second, I put a M140 spring in my m14 running a SHS high torque and the gun still gives me overspin even with an 8.6 mah. Would a 7.4 lipo fix it? Or do I just need to get an AB mosfet. I'm trying to save up for a mission trip so cash is tight right now. Any help would be appreciated.

A MOSFET is just a type of transistor that we use as an on/off switch. ESCs need to vary the speed of a motor between fully on and off. To do so they switch on and off rapidly, the more time they spend on the faster the motor goes.

As quite a lot of modern speed controllers use MOSFETs the only difference is the PWM circuitry.

As long as its not over spinning to the point of double shooting, its pretty normal. Surprised thats happening on an 8.4v though. An AB mosfet would fix the problem, but to my knowledge there is not a reliable unit on the market. Most people stick with a simple mosfet.

The SHS high torque has 14 TPA, which makes basically means its a speed motor. 16 TPA is generally considered a balanced motor, and 16+ is HT. I know the Lonex A1 is 16 TPA and the A2 is higher. Possibly getting a slower more torque oriented motor could help reduce the overspin. Lonex A2, or a JG Blue could be a good motor to move too.

Honestly if it doesn't double shoot on semi I'd be ok with it.

awesome thanks for the info. Yeah the SHS is just ridiculous with an 11.1 lipo. I know that the quality is crap but just to show you how fast it was going and i was just like wut? I think I'll try a JG blue to slow it down. Would a 7.1 lipo possibly work?
