    Default realsim?is it worth it?

Me and a friend was talking about the realism of some guns. the more realistic it is the more expensive it is. he brought to my attention a http://www.airsplat.com/Items/ER-CTW-M4A1.htmthat is about as realistic m4 as it gets besides systema. when i saw that it was 750.00 and there's still some upgrades he wants to do with it, i thought it would be too much money. also many parts are Celsius specific like the cylinder and mags. so tell me what y'all think. you you want a realistic gun or a maxed out standard gun + probably more for the same price?

    No,

There is far more realism involved with GIM GBBRs, and some of those can be had for $250. If you treat airsoft as a form of training, then yes realism matters.

When it comes to actual military training then it probably would matter. But for everyone else, it does not matter. The gun does not make the player. A $750 gun is not going to make you win over a $150 gun. I don't know how many times I had to teach this fact to amateur paintball players. You would have a group of wannabe tournament speed ball players with $1500 markers that would see me and one my fellow Legion players with a pump marker. They would laugh and make fun of us going against them. Between the two of us, we would clear the entire field within seconds. I have been playing airsoft now for two years and have seen airsoft players act the same way. So NO, the gun does not make the player and it shouldn't matter what type of gun you use or the realism of it. Just as long as its not a cheap wall mart gun that will break on you in 2 seconds.

Frogfish is right, if you want realism then the GBBR is the way to go. Now that said realism comes with a price. Real guns dont have 300 round mags and fire 30 rounds a second, neither do realistic airsoft guns. So it depends if you want to use airsoft for realism or competition. Competitiive players go for the righest rate of fire, distance, ammo capacity or combination thereof. Realism go for limited mag capacity and loadouts similar to real steel equivalents.
laxattack450 is right as well, if you just want to win, then a JG will do for the average player interested in the competitive side of the sport.

It really boils down to what you want to accomplish. For a specified task you chose the appropriate tools and methods. What do you want to accomplish and why? The answers to those questions should help you to chose what it right for you.

Like what? Lubing the mechanism and cleaning the barrel every so often like with an AEG, and the mags you need to buy?

    Look into KJW M4s

I am a GBBR user and from reading your original post/question I don't think you want a GBBR. I would place my bets you want a high performance AEG so you can be competitive. I could be wrong but thats what i am guessing.

He should stop playing airsoft so he dosen't develop bad habits and focus on PT, PT, and some more PT. No offense but since the SEAL craze started every kid wants to be a SEAL and while the reqs dropped for a while they are going back up as class sizes are growing exponentially, then you have sequestration coming as well.....
