    Default M4 Suppressor Question

    Hello all,

I am interested in a mock suppressor for my KWA SR10 but with the already lengthy barrel I don't want to add any extra length. Do they make a mock suppressor that is threaded at the exit end so that it does not extend the barrel? My search-fu is weak and the interwebz have yielded no results to my feeble attempts. I like the look of the suppressor butting up against the RIS I just don't want to have to change anything about my barrel (inner or outer).

    Any suggestions?
    Steve

What I have seen people do here in the shop is fashion a mock silencer out of PVC, paint it black, do some tacticool detail work to it, and simply affix it to the outer barrel. One person even took a stock mock silencer, gutted it, and was able to fit it into the RIS for a cool CQB mock silencer look.

The SR10 has a CQB Outer Barrel Extension that comes stock on every SR10.
it is a few inches long.
    Part # 546-6

You can remove this barrel extension, then add a suppressor to cover the extended length of the Inner Barrel.

There are reverse fit Mock Suppressors.
    JBU-JB31

    These are awesome.
    I have two of them.

    B-2 OPS Barrel Extension.

This is similar to the JBU, but much heavier I am told.

Both of these will work with the Front Sight.
Other reverse fit Mock Suppressors such as the ECHO1 AUG Mock Silencer, requires removal of the Front Sight to fit.

Vanevery, how does the JBU unit attach? Looks like there is a collar that clamps to the outer.

The JBU-JB 31 slides backwards over the Flash Hider threads.
The threads of the Mock Suppressor itself are somewhere in the middle.
Even with the Mock Suppressor all the way back against the Front Sight, there are still several inches of the Mock Suppressor extending beyond the Flash Hider threads.

The collar you speak of is similar to a Gas Block.
This is great because if for some reason you wanted more extension of the Mock Suppressor from the Flash Hider threads to accommodate a really long Inner Barrel, you can.
You would just simply lock the Gas Block down anywhere you wanted to along the Outer Barrel between the Front Sight post and the Flash Hider Threads. As long as you have enough of the Mock Suppressor threads screwed onto the Flash Hider threads to hold it securely, you will be good to go on this point. I have even had it set at times with only one turn on the Flash Hider threads and locked it down at that location.

This Mock Suppressor also has a removable Muzzle end.
It screws on and off allowing plenty of access to the inside of the Mock Suppressor.
I use this open space to accommodate Barrel Lock-Down methods.

    Great Mock Suppressor.
    Worth purchasing.

Thank you for the information. I noticed the apparent barrel break in the manual when I got the KWA, however any attempts I have made to separate the barrel extension have been failures. I don't want to ruin the finish on the barrel with vice grips but nothing I have tried has had the force or leverage to unscrew the barrel extension. Anyone have any advice on a safe, non-barrel scuffing way to remove the extension?

    KWA Thread-Locks the threads.

    You will need to:
    - Remove Inner Barrel.

    - Remove Tiny Grub Screw from that part of the Outer Barrel(if there is one).

    - Apply heat to the targeted area.
A Hair Dryer for about 30 min's to the area should do it.
You can also use a Heat Gun, but be careful as those can literally reach over 1000 degrees at the Muzzle.

    - Grab a wet wash cloth and wrench.

    - Lock the gun down so it can't move.

    - Lay wash cloth over Outer Barrel Extension

    - Place the wrench jaws over the wash cloth and turn Counter Clock-wise.
    Righty/ Loosey - Lefty/ Tighty.

    - You will need a lot of force to break the Thread-Lock.
You will most likely scuff the Outer Barrel extension somewhat.

This will require patience and a lot of work, but it will come off.
